Job Description

Our client is a delightful, purpose built registered care home in Thame, Oxfordshire, providing high quality nursing, residential and dementia care to older people. The home is owned by a ‘not for profit’ registered charity. They are currently looking to recruit a Head of Care who will support the Home Manager in the smooth and efficient running of the service and will ensure that excellent standard of care is maintained within the home. Job role:

  • €¢ Responsible for the day to day operational management of the care and nursing team

  • €¢ Deputising in the absence of the Home Manager

  • €¢ Promoting high standard of clinical practice at all times

  • €¢ Carrying out pre-admission care assessments

  • €¢ Planning, implementation and review of individual care plan

  • €¢ Ensuring that all medications including CDs are ordered, stored, administered and disposed of

  • €¢ Main contact for GPs and other health professionals

  • €¢ Supporting and advising of nursing and care staff in all aspects of their role

  • €¢ Orientation, induction and supervision of new staff

  • €¢ Implementing and monitoring of quality assurance systems

  • €¢ Responsible for continuously developing own knowledge and skills

Requirements:

  • €¢ Valid NMC Pin Number

  • €¢ Previous experience of leading a care team in a nursing home or a related clinical setting

  • €¢ Excellent clinical assessment skills

  • €¢ Knowledge of the care of the elderly

  • €¢ Mentoring course qualification desirable

  • €¢ Experience in venepuncture and the use of syringe driver is an advantage

  • €¢ Tissue Viability Training desirable

  • €¢ Experience in dementia care desirable

  • €¢ Efficient communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

  • €¢ Professional and flexible attitude to work

  • €¢ The ability to keep calm and cope under pressure

  • €¢ Driver
